A plant asset tag register is the master inventory of every tagged entity in a process facility: equipment, instruments, lines, valves, packages, and electrical assets. Each row captures the tag, description, parent system and area, P&ID reference, discipline, equipment class, datasheet reference, vendor details, design and operating conditions, criticality class, hazardous area zone, maintenance strategy, and links into SAP PM functional location and IBM Maximo location reference. Owner-operators use it as the master asset baseline at handover; it bootstraps the CMMS equipment master and underpins reliability, maintenance, and inspection programs.

Standard columns aligned with CFIHOS Class 5 (Tag) and ISO 14224 taxonomy: asset tag per ISA 5.1 or operator convention, description, CFIHOS Class 5 entity type, ISO 14224 taxonomy level, parent system and area, P&ID and PFD reference, discipline, equipment class, service, datasheet reference, vendor and model and serial number, material of construction, design and operating pressure and temperature, criticality class per RCM, hazardous area zone per IEC 60079, maintenance strategy, spare parts BOM, SAP PM functional location, Maximo location reference. CFIHOS Class 5 (Tag) defines the schema for every tagged entity at owner-operator handover: equipment, instrument, line, valve, package. ISO 14224 (Petroleum, Petrochemical and Natural Gas Industries: Collection and Exchange of Reliability and Maintenance Data) defines the taxonomy hierarchy (industry, business category, installation, plant, section, equipment unit, subunit, component) and reliability data structure. After CFIHOS handover acceptance, the asset tag register is the bootstrapping source for the owner-operator's CMMS. SAP PM equipment master is loaded from the register with the SAP PM functional location column driving the technical structure; IBM Maximo asset register is loaded with the Maximo location reference column driving the asset hierarchy. Yes. For Indian refinery, petrochemical, and fertiliser brownfield work under MoPNG and PNGRB jurisdiction, the asset tag register additionally captures OISD 118 compliance attributes (vessel capacity, inter-distance class), PESO Form XIV / XV pressure equipment registration, IBR Form IV boiler-side pressure equipment, and CCOE licence references. The Criticality Class column captures the RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) classification: Class A (safety-critical, production-critical, regulatory-critical), Class B (significant production impact, moderate safety impact), Class C (low impact, run-to-failure acceptable). The Maintenance Strategy column drives whether the asset is run-to-failure, time-based (preventive), condition-based (predictive monitoring), or predictive (digital twin / IoT). Together, the columns drive the SAP PM task list assignment, the inspection program scope, and the spare parts holding policy. The register is the single source of truth.
