Asset Information Management (AIM) is the discipline of building one structured asset register from every engineering document on a project: P&IDs, isometrics, datasheets, HAZOP studies, mill certificates, MDR, and handover packages. Pathnovo extracts the data, validates it against CFIHOS and ISO 15926, and feeds AVEVA AIM, Hexagon HxGN SDx, Bentley ProjectWise, SAP PM, IBM Maximo, and any client-format register. Built for brownfield EPC, greenfield handover, and owner-operator digital twin programmes where authoring-tool AIM platforms cannot read documents they did not create.
Build the asset register from any engineering document: P&IDs (PDF, scan, DWG), isometrics, datasheets, HAZOP studies, mill certificates, MDR, vendor data books. Authoring-tool AIM platforms read only what they created. Pathnovo reads anything.
Output mapped to CFIHOS class library and ISO 15926 reference data. Drops directly into AVEVA AIM, Hexagon HxGN SDx, Bentley iTwin, Cognite Data Fusion, and any digital twin platform without reformatting.
Every tag verified across P&ID, datasheet, line list, equipment list, HAZOP, and mill certificate. Discrepancies flagged before they reach your AIM platform. Reconciliation is part of the deliverable, not a separate consulting engagement.
Contractual guarantee on safety-critical fields: tags, line numbers, equipment IDs, instrument loops, IBR-scoped pressure parts, hazardous area zones. SLA includes a remedy clause.
Every tag mapped to every source document with revision tracking. The foundation of any AIM system. Live with McDermott (10,247 tags across 600 P&IDs).
Equipment list extracted, validated, and loaded into SAP PM functional locations and equipment masters. Includes spec, materials, IBR / PESO classification, criticality, and maintenance class.
Line numbers with size, spec, design pressure / temperature, fluid, insulation, IBR scope flag, and isometric reference. Feeds plant network model in AVEVA AIM, Bentley iTwin, or Cognite.
Complete instrument index with ISA 5.1 functional identification, loop number, signal type, control system assignment, SIL class, and HAZOP traceability.
Mill certificates extracted from 180,000+ formats and linked to equipment, piping, and PO line items. Forms the IBR Form IV and PESO compliance backbone of the asset register.
Master Document Register auto-populated from incoming transmittals. Vendor data books extracted and indexed against equipment master so every asset has its as-built documentation linked.

M&A due diligence: build a verified asset register from acquired-plant document archives in weeks, not quarters
Asset Information Management (AIM) software builds and maintains a single structured register of every asset in a process plant: equipment, piping, instruments, valves, electrical, and their relationships, certifications, maintenance plans, and source documents. The register feeds operations (CMMS / EAM), engineering change management, regulatory compliance (IBR, OISD, PESO), and digital twin platforms. Authoring-tool AIM platforms (AVEVA AIM, HxGN SDx) build the register from data they authored. Pathnovo builds it from any document, including legacy and third-party authored content.
EDMS (ProjectWise, Aconex, Wrench) stores documents. CMMS / EAM (SAP PM, IBM Maximo) manages maintenance work orders against an asset master. Digital twin (Cognite, AVEVA Insight, Bentley iTwin) visualises and analyses live operating data. AIM sits between them: it extracts structured asset data from EDMS-stored documents, populates the asset master that feeds CMMS, and provides the data foundation that digital twins need to be useful. Without a complete AIM register, the other three fail in predictable ways.
CFIHOS (Capital Facilities Information Handover Specification) is the global standard for handover of asset information between EPC contractors and owner-operators. It defines the class library, attributes, and relationships that an asset register must contain. Pathnovo output is CFIHOS 2.0-compliant by default, so the asset register drops into any CFIHOS-aware AIM platform (AVEVA AIM, HxGN SDx, Cognite, iTwin) without remapping. ISO 15926 is the underlying reference data library; CFIHOS sits on top.
Yes. Pathnovo extracts and structures the data; the destination AIM platform stores and visualises it. Output formats configurable per target: AVEVA AIM CFIHOS class library, Hexagon HxGN SDx asset information universe schema, Cognite Data Fusion data model, Bentley iTwin schema, SAP PM functional location and equipment master CSV, IBM Maximo asset register XML. We also feed Wrench SmartProject and Oracle Aconex via integration.
AVEVA AIM and Hexagon HxGN SDx2 are AIM platforms: they store, visualise, and serve asset information. They build the register from data their own authoring tools (E3D, SmartPlant) created. They cannot meaningfully extract from documents authored elsewhere. Pathnovo is the extraction layer that feeds either platform with the structured data they cannot produce themselves. Pathnovo is complementary to AVEVA AIM / HxGN SDx, not a replacement for them. Owner-operators with multi-vendor histories use Pathnovo to populate whichever AIM platform they have already chosen.
Per-project managed service from $300 for narrow scope (one register type) up to enterprise retainers from $10,000 / month for continuous AIM build-out across a multi-asset portfolio. A typical brownfield refinery asset register from legacy documents completes in 12-20 weeks, versus 18-36 months for a traditional AVEVA NET / HxGN SDx implementation. See /pricing for full per-deliverable ranges.
Yes. Pathnovo output is mapped to ISO 15926 reference data classes (Part 4 RDL) and to CFIHOS 2.0 (which sits on top of ISO 15926 for capital facilities handover). The same extracted data can be exported in CFIHOS class library format, in ISO 15926 RDF, or in proprietary AIM platform schemas (AVEVA, Hexagon, Bentley, Cognite, SAP, Maximo) on demand.
Yes. The asset register doubles as the source of truth for IBR Form IV (pressure equipment), OISD 118 (HAZOP and inter-distance), PESO Form XIV / XV (hazardous areas and safety devices), and CCOE registers. Indian PSU and refinery clients receive the AIM register and the four regulatory views from one extraction project. See /compliance/indian-epc-compliance-bundle.

Asset Information Management (AIM) is the discipline of maintaining a single, validated, queryable register of every asset in a plant: tag, equipment list, line list, instrument index, datasheet, mill certificate, HAZOP action, vendor document. AIM fails in most plants because the source data is locked in PDFs, scanned drawings, and incompatible CAD authoring tools that the AIM platform (AVEVA AIM, HxGN SDx, Cognite) cannot read. Implementations stretch from years to never-completed. Pathnovo solves the data ingestion gap with managed-service extraction at 99.5% accuracy, so the AIM platform you already chose actually gets populated.
Those three are AIM platforms: storage, visualisation, query. They are excellent at the things they do. They are weak at one thing: ingesting structured asset data from documents they did not author. AVEVA AIM ingests from AVEVA-authored objects. HxGN SDx2 added text-tag extraction in 2026 but does not extract symbols or topology. Cognite ingests from sensor data and operational systems but not from drawings. Pathnovo is the document-to-structured-data layer that feeds whichever AIM platform you own. Pathnovo + AVEVA AIM is a stronger combination than AVEVA AIM alone. Same for HxGN SDx, Bentley iTwin, and Cognite.
Equipment master with tag, type, service, design conditions, materials, IBR / PESO scope, criticality, vendor, datasheet reference, mill certificate reference, P&ID reference, HAZOP node reference, and CMMS functional location. Line list with line number, size, spec, design temperature and pressure, fluid, insulation, IBR scope, isometric reference. Instrument index with ISA 5.1 functional identification, loop number, signal type, SIL class, control system assignment, datasheet reference, P&ID reference, and HAZOP node reference. Plus tag-document register, MDR, and the four Indian regulatory views (IBR / OISD / PESO / CCOE) for India scope.
Brownfield refinery: 12-20 weeks for a complete equipment + line + instrument register from 30 years of legacy documents. Greenfield EPC handover: 8-12 weeks for a Day 1 operations-ready register populated into SAP PM. Owner-operator multi-vendor consolidation: 16-24 weeks. The traditional AVEVA NET or HxGN SDx implementation takes 18-36 months for the same scope, with most of that time spent on data ingestion. Pathnovo collapses the ingestion phase to weeks.
Owner-operators digitising legacy assets (refineries, petrochemical plants, fertiliser, power, LNG / LPG terminals). EPC contractors executing handover-driven projects with CFIHOS-aligned client requirements. AVEVA AIM, HxGN SDx, Bentley iTwin, and Cognite Data Fusion customers whose implementations have stalled at the data ingestion phase. Indian PSU operators (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, ONGC, GAIL) building digital plant programmes. Gulf NOCs and large EPC contractors (McDermott, GCKC, Zetwerk in build) that need a managed extraction service rather than a multi-year platform implementation.
