An instrument index (also called an instrument schedule or instrument list) is a register of every instrument on a project: tag number, instrument type, service description, P&ID reference, loop assignment, range, material, process connection, signal type, safety classification (SIL), and datasheet reference. It is a mandatory EPC deliverable and the foundation for procurement, DCS / PLC / SIS configuration, commissioning, and operational handover to SAP PM / Maximo.
